--- Quote from: USSEnterprise on August 08, 2005, 12:38:13 pm ---What is the sound difference in putting one subwoofer, or dual (stereo) woofers? --- End quote --- You can't actually have stereo subwoofers, as low frequency sound is non-localizable (your ears can't discern from which direction it's coming). The only reason you'd typically want to go with more than one subwoofer is to produce louder bass sound, or less distortion at the same volume. I'd be careful with more than one sub inside a small cabinet though, as you may run into some sort of cancellation problems between them. |

Ok, cool, I'll probably stick a small sub in there then. It seems like I once read something about sticking a sub next to a PC though. Something about the magnet in the sub screwing up the PC. Is there any truth to this? Cause if I was to put a sub in my cab, it would have to go next to the PC. |

Actually, the vast majority of subs that come with PC speakers are NOT magnetically shielded either - only the satellite speakers are. They figure you're not going to be putting your sub next to the PC. That being said, they're probably still safer than car or home audio speakers because of their generally lower power. If you put your PC on one side inside the cab and the sub on the other, that ought to be enough distance to not have to worry about anything. I did once crash a hard drive because it was too close to a home stereo speaker, though. Lost my entire MP3 collection. |
