| Is this normal? - DeWalt cordless drill sparks |

I recently got a DeWalt 14.4 cordless drill for a gift. This is my first cordless drill, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Anyway, here's what it's doing: when I press or release the power switch a small but bright spark can be seen through the vent holes in the side of the body. The spark isn't constant; it only does it once when power is applied and once again when power is cut. Is it supposed to be doing this? If not, I guess I can try to exchange it even though I don't have a receipt. thx |

My non-cordless drills do that. I never worried about it. My guess is you're fine. |

Yep, that's normal. My 19.2V craftsman does it and so does my friend's. :) |

I've got the 18volt Dewalt cordless and yes, this sparking phenomenon is regular. |
