It would be very funny if it turned out that the only reason the screen is dark is because the lenses are covered in a layer of dust.

-S

It would be funnier if the brightness was turned down.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

I find it's actually the opposite with Freecycle stuff.  People will say things like "it's just a blown fuse or connector", and when you get there it has a family of rednecks living in it.

about 8 months back I got a Williams Black knight off Free cycle. (Gwinnett Ga.)
It did not have a back glass and didn't play, but has been a kicken project pin.

Black Knight, wow.  That's a top pin.

I picked up my current project (Laser Cue, in the project section) from Freecycle.

I just joined the local FreeCycle in my town, and I've got a question - most likely for Chad.

I've got a Viewsonic 19" (I think, may be 20") viewable monitor that I want to give away, but the picture is pretty dark. Is it worth offering it to someone, or should I just toss it?

I know nothing about monitors, so I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle. It was beautiful when it worked correctly, and it's still usable if the graphics card has gamma control (looked great actually, I used it for Design work). I worked with it up until I got some new LCD's.

Chad, since you seem to be the freecycle guru...

I've got a '79 Trans Am I'm considering putting up - is it OK to mention that the taker has to pay the title transfer fees???  They seem to frown upon any mention of money, but I'll be darned if I'm gonna pay to give it away.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

It's grey area, but you're not asking for money for the car, only that the recipient pay transfer fees to the state

That bit in italics is the key.  Mention that in your post and even the wanker mods will probably let it through.

Worth is all in the eye of the beholder.  Like Chad said, you may think it sucks ass, someone else might think "Hey, an UPGRADE!"

Actually, I think Chad said it better when he said

Some folks happen to like stuff with a family of rednecks living in it though ;D

What state are you in?  I have someone interested in your offer named "ME!"

PA.

Theres a catch tho - I started the project of replacing the front rubber bushings, took off the top a-arm on the driver side, and stopped there.

You (or someone) will need to put it back together before it rolls.  All the parts (new bushings) are in a box.

You will find it interesting to notice I gave up on the project 2 years ago, and I have a 2 year old...  I just ran out of energy on this project.

Nice car tho, body not bad, 403, 350 turbo trans, t-tops, y-84 special edition, snowflake rims 15x8,  black and gold, shaker hood.

It was one of about 9k made according to pontiac.  I also have the original window stickers and paperwork from classic pontiacs or whoever sells them.

Oh, and you might need to kick in a few bucks for the title reprint too... I can't find the damn thing, altho I am still looking for it.  Think it was like $29 last time I had it done.

I've got a few feelers out, so if you are interested let me know.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

A buddy 'round these parts had to give his up when he finally had a kid.  He's been heartsick about it ever since.  I may be going to pick it up and letting him have it.  Either way, he'll be helping me with it.

I'll have to see if he's got the Burt Reynolds sateen jacket still ;)

I should know better...  I gotta type this up somewhere and save it so I can stop re-typing it all the time.

A long time ago ('93 ish?), a female friend was out bar-hopping with a few of us.

She hit the alcohol pretty hard that night.

2AM rolls around, and she proceeds to tell us she is heading home with a guy she just met.  A very scary guy.  This guy scared me.  No teeth.  Bad hair plugs.  Crosseyed.  WAY beneath her typical standards.

We talked her out of it.

Today, she is happily married, 2 kids, etc - so I think it was the right decision to meddle there.

Anyway, back to the story...

A few days later, I created the 'toothlessbarguy' moniker on AIM to harass her.

Unfortunately, the name stuck.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???
