Any services or sites you recommend if you've got an MP3 player?

Just picked up a GOOD one (40 Gigger) to listen to some podcasts during the day that I wouldn't otherwise be able to keep up with at home.

Anyone recommend some sites - FREE is definitely appreciated.

Not free, but I subscribe to Audible and get one book per month.  I split my time between the book and Pimsleur's Speak and Read French.  Audible is a bargain, considering the cost of audiobooks.  And I live in a rural city so there is no selection to speak of at the public library.  Pimsleur makes fantastic language packages.  Got any interest in learning or brushing up on French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Greek or Chinses (Mandarin)?

Spanish and French are fairly similar I've heard, so perhaps, but one step at a time. 

I know we talked a touch about Audible...is the one per month your timeframe, or theirs?  I've run through most of what our local libraries have that I'd like, and would probably average an audiobook a week-ish.

I've got to say, Engadget seems to be pretty popular from what I've listened to thus far, and from reviews I've skimmed over!  Shmokes, you might wanna check 'em out!

Is Pimsleur a large set that you get?  I know there were several languages available at one of our larger libraries, but they seemed either WAY too cumbersome (having a textbook, and a big fat one at that!) or rather sparse (like a single CD or 2 tapes)

The Pimsleur stuff is pretty big.  It is broken up into three courses, I, II and III and each one contains 30 units that are about 45 min-1 hour.  I've been doing the French ones, in addition to taking courses at school, for over a year and I'm about 2/3 through course II.  I do some units more than once, though, and sometimes I'll get tired of it and go a month without listening to them.  I think they're great, though.  Really high quality stuff.  It took 15 CDs to put just the course I of the Spanish set on disc for a girlfriend a few months ago.

FWIW I feel like I've benefitted a lot, especially in my conversation skills and accent, from the French discs.

My wife has been using the Pimsleur audio books for Spanish. She seems to think they're very good, and her Spanish has improved quite a bit since she's been using them. This reminds me that I need to order the next course for her soon.

I highly recommend www.ipodlounge.com for their articles and features.  Very helpful for syncronizing your ipod and computer and vice-versa.  I have my 1 playlist and library on 3 seperate computers and so keeping all 3 identical to each other is a bit of a hassle.

http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ - Use this for doing a better job normalizing your songs to all be the same volume.  To be honest, all normalizing software I have used has done a real terrible job except for this one.  Works great, and you can put everything on shuffle without worries.
