I am using the 2.1 creative speaker hack, & this comes with a remote control but i have not been able to come up with a way to mount this, is it possible to cut the remote off & solder the wire to volume switch from radio shack like a 0 to 10 switch, then mount it in the cab...has anyone tried this thanks Gary |

Not knowing what the 2.1 creative speaker hack is, I'll venture a guess: If something has a remote control, the infrared sensor can be CAREFULLY hacked and moved to wherever you want it to go. It's usually just two solder joints. ScoopKW |

Im sorry i did not clarify this right the 2.1 creative speakers comes with a wired remote & i was wondering if its possible to rewire to a turn knob from radio shack to control the volume this way thanks gary |

I use the creative labs 2.1 speakers. I just used some velcro to attach the volume/base adjustment pod to the back of my cabinet. It's easy to adjust the volume, and out of the way. No need to hack anything. I guess I'm missing something! |
| Doc-:
Try oscar's volume control - He recommends splicing your volume control into the line between the PC and your speaker system. This lets you have a separate conventional knob while still maintaining separate (series) control with your remote/sound system when needed. http://www.oscarcontrols.com/volume/index.shtml I have one on my system on the outside of the cabinet for easy volume access, and also have the remote speaker system control mounted on the keyboard tray for controlling overall volume, accessing the headphone jack, etc... Cheers! Doc- |
