What size T-molding?
nickbuol:
I am looking at 5/8 with laminate on one side and "backerboard" on the other. These are to me professionally applied and cut on a CNC machine at a local millworks. I've never seen backerboard, so I am not sure what to do.
T-Molding comes, obviously, in 5/8" and 3/4" widths. I was thinking 3/4", but was hoping for some confirmation.
I should also use a 1/6" slot cutter, right?
TalkingOctopus:
I don't know about the thickness of the backerboard, but for the slot you want a 1/16" slot cutter.
Taborious:
I used 3/4 MDF and formica on one side. I used 13/16 t-molding, black; pretty much all you can get in that size, and that size was perfect. 1/16 router bit cut, make sure its in the middle taking into account the formica on the one side, so on the mdf it will be slightly off center...
releasedtruth:
Hmmm, 3/4" would be 12/16 and you used 13/16 and it was perfect. That gives me pause cause I have 1/16" laminate on one side and nothing on the other on 5/8" MDF and I wondered what size. I have 5/8" in hand, but I wonder if I should go 3/4"
nickbuol:
5/8" = 10/16"
10/16" + 1/16" = 11/16"
3/4" = 12/16"
11/16" does not = 12/16"
Use 11/16" T-Molding...
