Double dragon fits that for me. I still play a bit cause I remember loving it, but it really is one of the more repetative and boring games out there.

Thats the thing... it brings you back to a time when things were more simple for you. Sometimes I feel kind of silly explaining to the "normies" (a.k.a. people who aren't in the arcade scene) my hobby, and to escape my embarassment I quickly play some Ms. Pacman.

I agree, there are quite a few games I remember with fondness from my childhood, but when I re-play them now, don't remember why I liked them, but there are some classics that really hold up (like bubble bobble!)

Yeah, it's real name was Skankies (that wasn't a nickname, but if it were, it would have fit).
It's been gone for a long time now, it's an apartment complex now, but every time I pass by I get a hankering for some penny candy, bubble bobble, and some of that stale gum from Garbage Pail Kids.

My first favorite is Galaga followed closely by Mario Bros. These were games that I were actually good at and didn't just pump quarters into.
My first favorite Pinball game is Firepower. Awesome Pin. I remember how surprised I was when I saw Multi-ball.

I suggest you purchase a pack of first series on e-bay for 30 bucks and tell us if the gum still tastes the same. I bet it does.

Hmm. . . I think the very first game I ever "needed" to play when I was little was "Invaders from Outerspace"

That and "Sea Devil"

Both electromechanical games. :)
