It's easier to type "hacking the control" than "running wires from one solder point to a button".

yeah... that's a pretty good explanation lol.  It's just a generic term that is used when you open up a control and make it function in a different manner than intended.  You still have the same buttons, but the fact that you made it look different, and perhaps act slightly different is why it's considered a hack.

Ok also why wouldn't this work http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3580&item=8197653957&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW what i was saying was what if i mounted the joystick and then changed then addded length to the buttons and put my own buttons on and not even mess with the joystick just mount it under the control panel i dont see why this would not work you guys said that you could just wire up the d-pad and all the other buttons with new buttons

If you can find a way to mount the actual analog stick to the CP and only use the cab for a N64 i guess it could work.  You'd more than likely have to decase the joystick to make it fit with any useable length.

And on top of that... I've used that stick before, and it's pretty unresponsive.  Give it a shot though if its what you really want.

Ok thanks if that doesnt work i guess i'll just have controllers plugged in and have them stored somewhere in it
