O.K.... I've read a little bit about light guns and I'm a bit confused. The Actlabs gun apparently is not going to be available after 5/30/05 so I'm trying to decide if I should buy it. First of all, the Act site says it's designed for a TV but it doesn't say anything about arcade monitors. I assume it will work with my 27" VisionPro? Also, I read that the cord has a big honkn' connection that doesn't allow it to be feed through a small hole. Just how big is this connector? Also, if I were going to buy a gun and wanted the most arcade authentic option (assuming price was not a big consideration) what would be my best choice? Thanks, N |

There is no way to use a real arcade gun, so forget about that. Unless you're technical enough to figure out an interface and driver yourself. The Act-Labs is currently the ONLY option that plays well. There are a few other products out there, but performance is less-than-optimal. There's some promising development on using the GunCon2 (for Playstation2) with the PC, but it's not working all the way yet. If you don't care about price, and want the sure thing, order the Act-Labs before the 30th. If you think the price is outrageous, and think the GunCon thing looks like it will pan out, go with the GunCon. Or, do nothing and wait to see if something better comes along. Those are really our only options. |

The TV one won't work on an arcade monitor. You need to get the USB PC one. The interface box is approx. 3x4.5x1.25 without the VGA connector from the monitor hooked to it. As far as the most arcade authentic, that depends on if you want looks, or performance. The best performing is the Act-Labs. The most authentic looking one is probably the Lik-Sang Virtual gun. It's similar in shape to a Beretta/Taurus, and comes with a foot pedal reload. |
