Looking for cab in Albuquerque, NM or surrounding area
jaredhobbs:
Hi all,
I'm new to the board and looking for an old cab either for restoration of if it's not restorable, I'll use it for a MAME cab. I live in Albuquerque, NM and I've been looking for a cab with no success. I've gone to the arcades and game rooms, checked thrift stores and the newspaper classified ads. If anyone knows where I can find a cab, working or non-working, for less than $100, I'm willing to travel up to 200 miles to pick it up. Thanks!
Jared
Q*Bert_OP:
Have you checked local arcade route operators?
The usually have old cabinets that they could sell, or even give to you.

I haven't checked local arcade route operators. I don't know how to contact them or where to find them! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Q*Bert_OP:
look in the yellow pages under amusment.
Find a place that sounds loke an arcade route. (example joe's amusment & vending)
Call 'em up and ask if they have any cabinets they can sell to you.
NEVER MENTION THE WORD M.A.M.E. :)
NEVER ASK FOR FREE CABS.

I used to know the owner (friend of a friend anyway) of peter pipers. About 5 years ago I asked about a cab. I bought one a week or so after he had one for free :( so I didn't take him up on it.
Anyway, you might want to ask.
but take note. It doesnt' cost that much to build one. about 3 4x8s and some 2x4s. Then the finishing touches... but many of those you would want to do with an arcade cab anyway (paint, new t-molding).
So if your having troubles find a cab... start looking at what it will take to build one. If I could redo my cab... I would have started from scratch. After getting my cab and pulling everything out I wasn't going to use... it was really just a box.
