Guncon Question - So If my Cab usesa TV it will Work?
<< < (2/3) > >>
Flinkly:
um, i thoguht someone said they got two guns working with plain vanilla mame?  i really don't want to have to mess with advance, so if someone could ponyup the info, that'd be great.
vibez:
that person was me. If you can get 1 gun working fine, then you will certainly get 2 working without any problems at all with vanilla mame 0.96. The only step needed is mapping gun1 triggers to mouse buttons 0 & 1, & gun2 to buttons 3 & 4 in the guncon control panel. Enable dual lightgun in the mame.ini & your good to go.

You can even use the act-labs troubleshooter tool to get 2 player house of the dead & virtuacop
IntruderAlert:
so what happened vibez?
did they put a raw mouse driver in this version?
vibez:
MAME does not handle dual PC Monitor guns.  But it does handle dual TV guns.  When Act Labs made the TV guns, they added a new switch to the design.  When the switch is set for Player 1, the gun sends mouse buttons 1 and 2 for trigger and reload.  When the switch is set for Player 2, the gun sends mouse buttons 3 and 4 instead.  As far as Windows is concerned, it's still just a single mouse with 4 buttons.  So you don't need Raw Input to handle dual TV guns.

The only reason we needed analog+ for the tv versions was because the code was broken. But the author of the troubleshooter submitted a fix to the mame devs & they rolled it into 0.96. So Tv versions will workflawlessly, but the PC vesions will not

...i don't get it.  the problem mame has is seeing the two seperate guns at once, aka, two seperate mice.  and why wouldn't it support pc monitor guns?  maybe we should drag this discussion back to the guncon post.
