How quickly would you notice? (for paigeoliver)

AlanS17:
This is a question for people like paigeoliver that know alot about original machines...

How quickly would you notice if someone rebuilt a Rally X into a Galaga? Keep in mind the the Rally X shares a cabinet shape with Pacman and Galaxian whereas the Galaga shares a shape with Ms Pacman.

The 2 cabs are crazy similar, but there are a couple of differences. How long would it take for oyu to notice? Would you notice?

And bottom line... could I get away with it and actually sell one at an auction for a decent amount?
ChadTower:
You can sell anything at auction for a decent amount if it works well and looks good.  Auctions are not always about originals.

I'm jumping the gun here but...

The person who would notice the quickest is also the person who would be willing to pay the least. A collector who knows his stuff, will not pay the spectacular prices at auctions anyway. He is going to find a "correct" Galaga some other way. RGVAC, or a local OP, or another collector, etc. The buyers that spend the dough are usually the least informed (like me ;)) and would pay big bucks for that galaga even in a dynamo cabinet, to later find out that they got the shaft.

There is always the exception, but I would say that this is pretty standard.

(I personally would rather have a nice Rally-X cabinet than a Galaga. I just play Galaga on my TV with my 6 year old and a Jakks controller :P)

I wasn't particularly impressed with that plug-and-play Galaga TV game. It's a vertical game on a horizontal monitor. It just doesn't feel right.

I just have a full set of artwork and a board. I was going to rebuild this Rally X into a Galaga when I realized it has a different shape.

I'm hearing good stuff from yall, though.

If you're trying to make money in this hobby, you're about 4 years too late.
