How I do remove permanent marker from formica?

When I bought a few of the machines I have, the previous owner (in his infinite wisdom) decided to mark which ones weren't working by writing "BAD" right on the side of the busted machines using a permanent marker.

Anybody know how to get that stuff off? I've got no idea how long it's been on there, but I'd venture to guess at least a couple of years.

Ugh.

You might try one of those "magic sponges" ... I have had better luck with those that anything else, including heavy-duty Goof-Off.

My 2 Year-Old got hold of a Sharpie and decided to colour on Daddy's brand-spanking-new notebook. It hadn't been sitting there for years, but the magic sponge cleared it up beautifully.

Failing that, I have (long ago now) soaked such stuff with Goof Off with reasonable results.

Good luck & Cheers.

JODY:

I second his responses.

magic sponge... goof-off... I'll give 'em a shot. Thanks.

Rubbing alcohol usually works pretty good on Markers too. Try it if you got it.
Bar that, I also recommend Goof-Off. Super strong stuff. I've used it to remove silk-screened art from some plastic cabinets. Just be careful with it & don't inhale the fumes for too long... You'll go loopy. (At least that's my excuse)
