1920's knowledge?

I need info about 1920's baseball, the negro baseball leagues of the 20's, flappers, and illegal prohibition party's.

Also any info regarding big band music of the era (artists adn song titles of interest), after WWI mindsets, general politics, etc.  Pre-depression only.

Need any juicy tidbits you can share that I cant already find on google.

Thanks

I think I remember a story my grandpa told me about him having to walk 20 miles barefoot in the snow uphill to and from school.............

This might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaring_20%27s

I'm no history major, but from what I gather the 20's certainly seemed more fun than the last couple of decades. At least until '29 (Stock market crash).

I can't wait for the inevitable backlash against the ultra-conservative direction this country seems to be headed in lately. Maybe the next roarin' twenties will be 2020!

got an AP test this Friday on History, Ill dig up my notes on the 20's afterwards if you want concerning social changes, and the return to isolationism/nativism if you still want them by then.  I might not be an american history major but the notes came from one so theyre accurate at least

A secret bar was called a speakeasy.  Alchol was actually available by perscription.  The perscriptions were printed on the same paper as money.  This was because the treasury department was acctually incharge of it all.

Al Jolson was the bees knees.  And if you want a feel for the era rent "the cats meow" or"the great gatsby"
