pacman jakks game question ?

rlemmon:

Hi. I was thinking of buying one of these pacman bartop machines http://extraordinaryarcade.com/arcademachines.html

I heard someone say that the jakks  pacman game was not the original arcade version. They said the music was different and the ghost weren’t as smart.  If this is true I don't want to waste my money. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks  :)

Grasshopper:

No, they're fairly accurate, but definitely not the originals. For a start they've been designed for horizontal TVs whereas the original games were played on vertical monitors.

You do know its just a $20.00 toy from Wal-Mart don't you.
They are fun and close to the real game but come on .
any one can build a cab , hack the $20.00 toy, toss in a small tv.
$100 to $150 tops
and that is using the top of the line wood, TV, and New controlls.
save your self $400.00

shawnzilla:

Amen!

My brother-in-law asked me to build him a bartop for his dorm room.  Just like Dawayne said:

Ms. Pacman Controller (Wal-mart) - $20.00
3/4" MDF - $17
Happs Super Joystick - I believe Ponyboy is selling these for $6.95 each (he also has really inexpensive buttons!)
13" Tv (Daewoo - Best Buy) - $69.99

Even if you spent another $100 on artwork, etc... you'd still be right around $200 for the whole shebang and $200 is a far cry cheaper than $599.
