Yeah, Melamine has a harder finish, similar to an Oil paint, You'll need to use a foam roller, and apply 3 or 4 or even 5 very thin coats for it to look nice, along with a primer (that I highly recommend you get tinted no matter what type of paint you opt for), it has a slight gloss to it but nothing overwhelming.  If you spill anything on it cleans of nicely, You also should apply it in a well ventilated area that preferably is not in your house, it has a very strong smell to it, but goes away after several days, and you need to wait about 16 hours between coats.  Also there seems to be a  lot of good threads on this forum that also recommended melamine paint, and I trusted them having not ever used it until this cab I finished, just do a quick search to see what others thought of it.  I was happy with the results of it, and everyone who sees it is impressed with the way it looks, infact one of the girls who saw it didn't believe I built, and was impressed with how the paint and artwork looked on it.
