Can a Thread just disappear?

I swear I was looking at a thread this morning and when I came back it just vanished. Not moved, not post hell - just gone. Am I crazy? and can this really happen. :)

I've seen threads before that looked like they were headed to post hell and just dissapear. Its usually when something really bad happens. then it gets moved by those we don't speak of.
It was the bush coming out thread wasn't it.

Yep, I noticed that one dissapeared too. Sometimes the really nasty ones just get nuked.
