Missile Command Restoration
IntruderAlert:
WOW!!!
That's completely AWESOME man!!!

Zakk, like I said, that angle doesn't show how bad the spot really is. Though, it is not terribly noticable unless you are really looking over the game. Careful game placement will hide it... ;)
Menace, yes, it was a labor of love, however it was also inexpensive. :) I spent a grand total of about $250 on this game, and that is being generous. I make it a point to try to only get games that are great deals, or I can easily increase the value of. Having inexpensive, high quality artwork available really helps. Also, a lot of the materials (plywood, screws, glue, staples, bondo, sand paper, paint, cleaners, leftover formica, etc.) I had around. I'm kinda turning into a packrat with "scraps", because I can always think of a future use.
If anyone wants to know where to get the sideart for about $60, let me know, I'd be glad to help. :)
Markrvp, sure, I'll invite you to our next party, you can just fly on up from Texas. ;)
J123vt99, yours can look just as good, thanks to the art repro guys. It takes some effort to remove the old stuff, and concentration to install the new art, but it is worth it in the end!
Thanks again for all the compliments! Seeing some of the game restorations on here (such as Kelsey's Centipede) and especially the Missile Command restorations in particular, really made me want to take on this project. When I see how sharp a restored classic looks, it really makes me want to fix one up. (this is exactly why I have too many projects in the garage right now!) Hopefully, some of you will do the same.

spriggy:
Well done my friend. Can't wait for the Taito cab! ;)
Wade:
Spriggy, I'm sure it won't be nearly as nice as your Mini! :)
I just wanted to post a follow up for this thread (game wasn't working after restoration). Last night, I removed all the chips and sanded them with some fine sandpaper. They didn't appear very dirty at all, but I didn't know what else to try short of sending it out for repair. Well, it worked!!
Thanks for the help and suggestions. It's great to finally have this game working!
