Bones:
Tomorrow I will order some more wood for the back panels. Given the choice I would prefer to leave this entire section open but with 2 small kids I just can't take the risk that curious fingers will end up inside.
Everything I read suggests that intake and exhaust fans are the way to go, but I am thinking due to the colossal size of Project Bones that this will not be required. (You really have to see it in the flesh to appreciate its size.)
After some extensive wind tunnel testing and numerous discussions with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I have decided to use the method as indicated in my diagram.
I have some spare Lexan I originally cut for the monitor glass which I will incorporate into the design. The angled section at the bottom will not be covered but rather there will be an overlapping of the wood and Lexan leaving a substantial but hidden gap that is still child safe. My hope is that cooler air will be drawn in through here and the super heated gas dispersed out the top through a gap. I would explain the thermodynamics in terms of a mathematical equation but I don't think anybody here would understand.
I will use the same size MDF as the Lexan which is 8mm although I haven't checked the availability of this material as yet.
The MDF and Lexan will both be retained with T-nuts.

The brochure there says they're optional. That means they don't come on the base model. I think Bones is going with another option package that don't have the spots as an option in it. Shame. I think Mrs Bones would like the camo look for that new outfit I heard she's gonna sport at the unveiling.
Hey, throw an air vent cover on the top of there. That'll let it cool down. If not, it looks like you could fit a nice 20" box fan inside there to get the air moving.

Leopard skin print does look pretty cool. There is no way I could convince my mrs to let me have that. Otherwise I will find out all the info I can on the paint used on myine to get you a real nice smooth finish!
