Cabinet Layout/Plans
coasternuts:
Here is a design I'm working on. It's a Lusid/ArcadeParadise/Knievel type cabinet.
The cabinet will house a 20" monitor and swappable panels and be 26" wide interior to the side panels. (ie. 27.5" total).
Can you poke holes in my design?
For example, is the panel angle not steep enough? Is the distance from the panel to the monitor not good enough for Golden Tee? Will I be able to reach the panel clamps from the coin door? Is the marquee too tall? What if I want to add a steering wheel?
I think I might be getting impatient, after all it's only 1:31 EST. :-[

The cabinet is too wide for a 20" monitor. The monitor will look tiny in that 26" wide interior. It would be similar to how a Defender cabinet would look if you ripped out the 19" monitor and stuck a 13" one in there instead.
Also, I would bring the coin door panel out further. I have a cabinet someone else built with a big overhanging panel like that and the thing is not as stable as it should be. A 12" overhanging panel like that would make the cabinet very easy to tip over.
The panel angle is fine. Golden Tee plays fine even on normal cabinets, mine was housed in an Atari System I cabinet with a straight up and down monitor and it was still fine.

Here, I redrew a few lines so you will have a cabinet that won't tip over.

And these lines are a lot more similar to what factory made cabinets that size are like. A lot of the BYOAC cabinets stick that agressive Defender/Kangaroo type poking out marquee on a cabinet that is just too large for it.

This one looks alot better paige and he could also stick some speakers under the marquee area. I don't like the last one.
