Here's a link to an article explaining it. It's a viral marketing campaign for Xbox 2 (or whatever it ends up being called). A similar thing was done for Halo 2. I belong to the Xbox-Scene colony, which is in the top ten ranking, I think -- whatever the hell that means.
The password to join that colony is 13897122'
And yes, it's really wierd so far. There's nothing really to do there.
