Trackball and Optical mouse
« on: May 09, 2002, 05:16:43 pm »
Hi,

I have borrowed today an optical mouse that I'm using
at work...

I have decided to try a old suggestions that I have read in this site...

The idea was to use an optical mouse instead of using a
mechanical mouse (disassemble, solder infrared emitter and receptor...and the mess to align them correctly)...

I have use a old foam ball of about 3 inch to do my test...

I was holding the mouse upside down (I can see the small window of the mouse optical sensor) and the mouse buttons were oriented towards me...

I was moving the ball to the left and to the right and the cursor was moving correctly, I  also tried it, up and down and also the mouse cursor was moving correctly!

I think the only critical problem is to dismantle the mouse and to rtry to not go over a 1/4 inch distance between the mouse and the ball.

Does someone was able to try it for is CP?

thanks
Reg
