LuSID cab - can I shorten?
(1/3) > >>
DemonBrew:
I'm building my first cab - based on the Project Arcade book / LuSID Arcade Flashback design. Trick is - I need to shorten it by about 1 to 2 inches in height (basement ceiling is low).

If I put in a 25" TV, is there room above the TV but below the marquee to chop out an inch or two? The pics seem to indicate that, but I would rather not cut up some plywood then find out it won't work.

I also don't want to shorten it from below the CP, right? I don't want the controls lower to the floor.

While on the subject of height - are wheels really necessary? It's going on a linoleum tiled floor, and I don't see much need to move it around constantly.

I built my upright following this design. I used a 27" Toshiba in mine and I think you could squeeze and inch or two out of that that space easily without compromising anything.

I would recommend casters but its your machine to do however you please. Once you add that TV in there that sucker is gonna be heavy.
The bottom of mine is slightly recessed so it floats just a smidge off the floor when in motion. Mine sits in carpeted area so once in place it sank in its spot but is still easy to move when needed.

Good luck with your project.

take the 2" off the bottom of your cab. You shouldnt have any problems with it.

Is there any space BELOW the TV?  Either way, about the casters, you could raise the base so it's not flush to the bottom but rather 2" from the bottom, then mount casters onto it.  This way, you'll only see about .5" caster wheels and your arcade will roll (but only on flat surfaces)
