Has anyone tried to use an adapter like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41059&item=8179099520&rd=1

and use playstation guns for you mame cab? They are already designed to be used with tvs, so maybe they would work.
Lilwolf:
they dont work with light guns.  The screen refresh is very different.  you need optics per screen type.

Also, Playstation 2 already has usb lightguns so there would be no need for the adapter. I've always wondered myself why a driver could not be written for the namco guncon (for example) since it is usb already. And if we used TV-out on our computers it seems to me like it could be done.

BUT I have no knowledge of this sort of thing, so I really don't know if it can be done or not. I'm guessing it can't be done.
Lilwolf:
you might be able to write one that works with a TV since the optics/circuits would be setup for the tvs refresh rate.  So you wouldn't really be helping everyone out.

The better one might be a dreamcast -> usb lightgun solution since they both will work on all tvs and vga monitors.  Plus they are strong enought to pick up gray shades (where act labs flashes pure white)
versapak:
There are guns for PS2 that are designed to work with HDTV's.

Wouldn't those technically be able to work with the refresh rate of a vga monitor as well, providing a driver could be written?
