I gotta Joust! I gotta Joust !

fredster:
I was at the Nashville Auction on Saturday and I picked up a joust.

It wasn't working right and the monitor was crap. The CP was torn up, but the cab was intact. I picked it up for $150.

I got it home and the monitor was a WG4900.  The thing started but kept rebooting. It showed Ram Error 23.  I happened to have an old defender board that was crap, but it had rams. I put it in and *bink* she says "Initial tests indicate all systems GO" and she did.  One $1.25 chip was the differnce between $150 and $400 bucks.

The monitor was badly adjusted.  I guess the former owner had a monkey that like to mess with knobs.  I got it to come out and look pretty good.

I put in an order for 8 ram chips and a power supply rebuild kit from Bob Roberts. I'm getting a cap kit for the monitor too.

I'm getting a new CP.  The Bezel is junk, anybody have a good source for new Bezels?  The art is okay, but the plywood is flaking.  It's been dragged around a little in it's life, so I'm thinking about touching it up and then coating it with a clear coat poly, semi gloss.

Any tips on redoing the artwork?  Man I love Joust.

arcadeshop.com has a couple bezels for Joust... one at $49 and an underlay at $35

not really sure where else at the moment....

missioncontrol:
congrates on the Joust score  ;D

fredster:
Thanks all.

There was a listing somewhere on the forum or website that has a stargate somebody repainted.  I can't find it.

I don't remember who did it, but it was nice job.  I'd like to stab at that.

Thanks for the tip on arcadeshop.  I got an overlay from ebay from arcadeoverlays.com.  They didn't have the bezel.

Ooh, Joust, one of my very favorites. Nice find!
