Cocktail Cabinets - Uncomfortable to play?

As long as you realize that it is your first, and not last, cab .... then you're ahead of the game.
Cheers.

My 8 year old niece loves to play my Space Invaders cocktail because unlike my uprights, she can play it standing up without having to stand on something else. It's pretty funny to watch her play, she really gets into it.

Yep, had some step-second-cousins visit a while back. The little girls played my Jack the Giantkiller and Time Pilot cocktails standing up, for like 6 hours straight, happily losing over and over and over again.
The boys on the other hand all crowded around the single player video-poker Mame (that I was running at the time), and I plugged in a couple extra gamepads for them and they went through one beat-em-up after another for 6 hours straight.

does that make sense?

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. Might be a bit tricky getting the angles just right though.
I don't think the mirrored player two image would necessarily matter for most games as long as the player two joystick directions were swapped to match. It would be a way to play simultaneous two player games (such as beat-em-ups) on a cocktail whilst still facing your opponent.
The only problem is that player two's screen would appear to be further away that player one's, so he/she would be at a slight disadvantage.

that retrocade design is very nice and innovative. (i'd change it up a little though).
the position one is in while playing a cocktail doesn't seem much different from when you're studying.

That is true. I have both an upright (Mame) Frankencab and a sit at (Jamma) Candy cab. I play the Candy about 5 times as much, even though the Mame cabinet has every game in the Universe, better joysticks and a better monitor.

only the candy cab has a reletively upright monitor. i do find i get a bit of neck pain after playing my cocktail cab awhile. but then i get sore joints more easily than friends. the biggest pain in the butt weve all found was THE pain in the butt!! i made 4 upholstered stool tops but only finished two stools. what a friend of mine found was when we get sore from sitting, we can put the two leftover stool tops on the floor and kneel...
