Because there's no jobs in my field in most parts of the country.  It's kind of hard to find a software engineering job in Arkansas.

Not really so, not to a great extent.  Sure, there are software companies in Nashville.  How many?  4, maybe 5?  What happens if you get laid off?  The potential employer pool is way too small.  That's the case with most places.  Here, I can work for any of thousands of companies.  In Alabama, not so many, not in this field at least.

A 3000 square foot home where I live can be had for $300,000.  I kinda hate where I live, though, and plan to move to one of those places like ya'll are talking about.  Who wants a 3000 square foot home in a place that sucks?
