Happ Controls' "faux" coin door

Note: Sorry if this has been discussed but searching for "Small Door and Frame Assembly for Home Arcade Cabinet" didn't turn up any results  ;D

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Happ's "Small Door and Frame Assembly for Home Arcade Cabinet"
http://www.happcontrols.com/pc/accessories/40071300.htm

Is it a quality fake? Do the eject buttons depress?  I just can not justify ~$90 for a new coin door and could care less for a coin mechanism.  This seems perfect for my need of a sense of realism without hurting the wallet.

So has anyone ordered this?

SideShow Rob:

I've put a order in today with ponyboy for one...

No room in the cocktail cabinet for a working coin door...and don't need one anyway.

I've seen one in the flesh...they are good quality - easily taken for a real coin door. I didn't get up close and personal with it...but I believe the eject button does not work, and the coin return is barred - saves someone filling your cab with crap, hopefully.

ponyboy is quoting $31.95...a dollar cheaper than the official asking price, btw...

If you want a coin door for your cabinet and don't want to pay 90 for a new one look on eBay I am sure you can get a functional coin door for the price of that faux one on Happ. Unless you are a "I must have everything new" kind of guy.

clanggedin:

I paid $25 for a 4 player coin door on Ebay. You should be able to find a good used one for cheap. even if the coin door looks a little beat up you cab pound out the dents and repaint it with a hammered finish for around $7.

I have one of these.  It uses exactly the same parts as the top half of an over-under coin door.  The only difference is that there are no mechs, the return slots are blocked from opening by a metal bracket, and the coin slots have full length plugs to prevent coins from being placed inside.  The reject buttons do depress.  The door comes with a key and it does open and lock.

I bought mine because I wanted a smaller door for my cab, and already had a full-size pinball door so didn't want to pay full price for parts I already had.  I actually swapped out the coinslot plugs, removed the brackets from the return slots, and installed the coin mechs from the other door.  Everything fit perfectly.

I think you could get the same results by placing a custom order with Happ (order the fake door with mechs installed).  I also don't think the coin mechs cost much, so you could get them separately too.
