I'm getting greedy. With the pedestal idea I'm thinking I might be able to fit 3 or 4 steering wheels! BwahahahahahaHAHAHA! Are there any Super Sprint-like games that support 4 simultaneous players? I could only find the original Sprint 4 & Sprint 8 but I'm not going to play those older games, just the more modern games with a bit more color and detail.

I don't think I need a shifter to play any of the games I want. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to add one or two if the pedestal isn't too crowded.

I make no apologies for wanting to destroy an arcade cabinet:

I don't think I understand this idea? A flilp down kick plate? Any pictures of this?

--- Quote from: Kremmit on March 15, 2005, 01:13:03 am ---Hmm, flip-down.. if you don't want the flip-down panel to protrude when it's up, you'd need to cut recesses in the cab to make room for the pedals.. and if you're already cutting recesses, why not make it so it folds up INTO the recess, with the front flush.. neat-o!

Here's two ideas I was thinking of for the pedals. Either idea works for the pedestal or on the cabinet:

Minwah's cabinet with external pedals:

Some guy's internal pedal design:

I don't really have a preference. Any suggestions on why one design is better than the other? I can't imagine a need for hiding the pedals. The only reason I wanted to hinge the steering wheels is because they'd get in the way of the rest of the control panel. Although if I went with a hinged steering wheel it would be kind of cool if when you pop the steering wheel up the pedals also drop out. :)

Here's what I did:

rotating 3 sided panel--control panel #3 has pegs which mate with the wheel assemblies and lock in.  the pedals are then flip up/hideaway style which operate using those magnets that they use for cabinets and stuff (i.e. push in to lock, quick push to unlock)  My only beef was not finding 2 pc pedals that were the same so player 2 got the more uncomfortable ones  :P  This setup works beautifully with an optipac under the hood to control them.  The advantage of this is that as far as mame is concerned the wheels are always plugged in(thanks to the optipac) so there is no re-ordering of controls every time i add and remove things.

the pedals are an analog joystick to usb plug that have been hacked to separate the two axis of the joystick.  Player one is +x, -x and player 2 is +y,-y.  Once you have mapped this in mame it works quite well.

Also, if anyone near St. Louis wants to haul off an empty Sprint 2 cab to chop the top half off of, well, I have one in my basement. I'll leave the pedals and coin door on it if you toss me a $20.
