Coin Controls - Coin Mechs - Installation

Yup those are Coin Control mechs. They have the "shovel" extension at the top.
Chris:
I have a Coin Controls door and I put Happ plastic mechs in them just fine.  It's kind of a pain to get them in, but they do work.  I did have to cut off the plastic studs on the mechs, as they were too large... I just put small screws in their place once the mech was installed.

Here's my Coin Controls door with installed Happ's mechs.  Ignore the red ovals; they're highlighting the extra switches I added to register a credit when the coin return is pushed in.

Thanks for the pic!!  Luckily though, I just found a person (locally) that is going to sell me Coin Control mechs.. so, no need to worry about installing Happs mechs inside the doors.

One (really newbie) question though....

All of the wiring leads to one single plug.. I'm assuming that this was made for easy attaching to some kind of harness?!  Would my best bet be to rewire it completely so I could hook it up to my Keywiz?  (sorry.. this might sound like a bit of an obvious question)

Chris:
I wouldn't cut off the existing plug.  Just get a matching plug at Radio Shack (probably the 9-Position Standard Male Polarized Interlocking Connector, $2.39, Catalog #274-229), follow the wires back to figure out which is which, and wire them accordingly.  Four of the wires (two switches, two grounds) will go to the IPac, one of them (green, in all likelyhood) goes to the cabinet ground (if you have one), and the rest are for the lamps and will go to a 5V or 12V connector on your PC power supply, depending on whether the door has 6V or 12V lamps.

Wow.  That was a pretty thurough reply ! (complete with RS Catalog #)!!  thanks.  I've got a lot to learn..  but, I guess that's part of the reason I jumped into this hobby!

Thanks.
