A few photos of a big monitor shoehorn job.
paigeoliver:
I had fooled around with this cocktail in the past, I even had it functional with Mame at one point, but I really wanted a vertical one.
Well, I managed to shoehorn a 27" vertical monitor into a 19" horizontal cocktail cabinet.
The non-viewable portion of the monitor actually extends slightly under the control panels, but the viewable area is fully visible. I have less than 1/4" of clearance in several places, but I got it in there.
I am still kicking around control panel ideas.
I have several control panel theories.
Panel 1, 8-way and trackball - duplicate on panel 2.
Panel 1, 8-way and trackball - panel 2 two 8-way positions.
Panel 1, trackball and dual 8-ways, panel 2 spinner and dual 8-ways (perhaps make one a top fire).
This was a Dunk Shot cocktail at one point, I got it with a bad monitor and no board, and it is an almost impossible board to find (the game is really rare, not very fun, and the boardset romswaps to a few EXPENSIVE boards).
I removed the big plastic side marquees (which made it too wide to fit through a normal doorway), and filled the holes they left behind, I left the slot where the light went, and I will be putting some sort of light back in there.

I literally spent about 2 hours getting this monitor to fit, I kept having to remove more and more of the innards of the cocktail.
The Jerk:
Nothing wrong with that. I always enjoy MAKING things work.
paigeoliver:
Oh, and since there is little in the photo to truly give an idea of scale, you play that cocktail standing up and the control panels are 26" wide (wider than most pre '91 uprights).

That thing is insane! I love it.
