Not a mouse issue. The power minder uses the USB port to check voltage, and when it detects none, it shuts off everything connected to it. Worked great on my AN7.

I didn't find anything in the manual either. I'll have to go through the BIOS with a fine tooth comb again.

You should try plugging into a different set of ports.  Maybe not all of them have standby power.  Often the front ports do not.

If that route fails, you could make an adapter cable by hacking a usb extension cable (passive, not active) and grafting it to a 4 pin molex connector that you can plug into a drive power connector from your power supply.  Just wire up the 5V line and ground, leaving the rest unconnected.  USB extension cables are cheap, as long as you don't buy them at Best Buy or Circuit City.
