I found a good joystick for T2
markrvp:
I originally bought this logitech Extreme 3D Pro for playing Afterburner II. After studying Terminator 2 a little bit I discovered that this joystick can mimick the original T2 analog gun base pretty well. Remember, these guns rotated left and right and tilted back and forth.
The flightstick has not only X and Y axis tilts but also Z axis rotation. You can twist the handle left and right. In T2, hit TAB to set up the controls. By using Z axis rotation for left and right movement and the Y axis movement for up and down, I get really great (and very fast) response.
These things are $30 at Wal-Mart. USB hotswappable is nice and you can use two at the same time.

just have to mount a gun to em.
How many mame games used positional guns?

Nice find. T2 guns are plentiful at auctions and distro houses. I'm sure it would only take about an hour to mount an old gun to this joystick. If I were still living in the states, I'd pick one up.

These are not the only analog sticks with z-axis rotation.
I have two others. One is a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro(Older, Gameport only) and the other is a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro(Newer, USB or Gameport).

I was originally thinking of using a 3-axis joystick before I found two T2 guns on ebay and decided to use the real thing. :)
I think you might want to try to lock the x axis if you're planning to mount guns. I think the shells of a Happ submachine lightgun would make a pretty good topper. The added benefit is that they already have mounting points for switches.
