Simple Shinobi questions

(1/2) > >>

VooDoo:
Quick questions.  I picked up a shinobi at the Knoxville Auction, working for a cheap price.  I brought it home and it won't comeup.  The LED on the mainboard comes up, the monitor tubes are lit (from the back) and I can hear the faint buzz from the sound coming up.  That is about it.

I am thinking that something went wrong in the transport, but have no idea where to start on these sega 16 cabs.

Can someone give me advice of what I should do or where I should start?

Thanks in advacne

Ken Layton:
Did the gameboard edge connector come loose or cock-eyed? Any loose socketed IC chips? The game power supply working properly? Just because the LED is lit doesn't mean the voltage is good from the power supply. Remember that Shinobi is not a Jamma standard game (unless of course someone installed a Shinobi to Jamma adapter on the board).

Get  multimeter and measure all the voltages from the power supply.

VooDoo:
Good idea, I need to find the manual etc. on line then and find out what those voltage numbers should be

fredster:
Probably something loose. Reseat the harness.  Shinobi's usually live well.

System 16 looks the same as Jamma, but it aint.

That was in that Robotron Cab wasn't it?  Has a WG 4900 for a monitor?

Check all the connections to make sure they are tight, fire it up, and then take your hand and tap the board and wait for a second.  Do it a couple of times.

I'm not kidding.  I'm very serious.  If it comes up, you have some loose chips on that board or wires.  Then you would take it out and reseat the roms.

Lots of places on the net to find the manual.  Mikesarcade.com is one of them.

RayB:
Don't use a long extension cord.

And did you see the game working before you brought it home?
