MonitorGuru:
Bally Midway games that ran on the MCR boardset (Tapper, Tron, Kick/Kickman, Satan's Hollow, Spy Hunter, etc...) all output video at a vastly different rate than most all other games.

(Assuming vertical orientation) they run at 480x512 at 30 Hz, Interlace mode. Where most other Bally/Midway and most others run at 224x256 at 60.60 Hz, non-interlace.

Even if you can get them to work on the arcade monitor without them rolling or tearing, they will "jump" and be hard on your eyes due to the interlacing.

Most newer monitors and the replacement chassis don't support refreshes below 48 (48-65 usually) so they won't be able to draw the interlace modes.

About the only thing you can do is use Advance Mame and tell it to chop the resolution down and use a non-interlace mode.  But since you're using AVGA and Mamem32, you may not be able to select a more compatible mode.

I got mine setup for 47hz for the 30hz games.
Tapper, Rampage, Journey, Blasted etc... is a 512x480x30hz  and I run this at 512x275x47hz.

MonitorGuru,

Can you elaborate on this 30Hz, I've put a CGA compatible LCD in my Spy Hunter arcade cabinet, and I get a very dark and blurry picture.  Is there a scan converter or some other device that I can use to convert this 30Hz to 60Hz that my LCD can understand?  I really want to get it working!

Have you tried manually setting the resolution to 640x480?  The AVGA will automatically interlace this resolution (unless you installed the multisync patch).  Spy Hunter and Tapper used to look perfect on my CGA arcade monitor at those resolutions.  I don't recall any flicker at all.
