You know I'm thinking seriously now about building a trigger joy "module" for my machine.....but what games would I play on it? I can obviously think of -- Tron Afterburner 1 & 2 then my mind blanks..... ??? Is a trigger joy worth having? I've seen a bunch of panels that have one....but this would be a fair investment on parts.....any "must haves" that use a trigger joy I'm just not thinking of? MameMaster! 8) |

Most of the Midway-style trigger joys are actually digital. Tron used an 8-way with a 4-way restrictor on it that barely allows the diagonals. An analog stick probably won't play this one well. Xenophobe/DOT used an 8-way. Analogs will probably do OK on these. Satan's Hollow used a special 2-way version. Kosmik Krooz'r and Gorf both used a version that had optics in the bottom, but were digital (open/closed optic sensors). |

....hmmm...this seems like a short list with potential pitfalls....are their any compelling games for a Trigger Joy that comes to mind?.....I can't think of any....so why do so many folks here seem to use such a combo? I wonder if it's for the whole "tron thing" ? ??? Yet despite it all....I think it would be cool to have a trigger joy......sigh. ....but this may not be a worth while project! :-\ |

Trigger Joy - Yes. ANALOG Trigger Joy - NO. ----------------------------------------------- I actually have FOUR of them. The digital ones also work well for tank games, and such. You can pick up used Xenophobe sticks for $10-15, if you hit the right auction. I wouldn't pay $150+ for an ANALOG trigger stick though. I got the one I have (it's the same one that is used on the Star Wars Trilogy machines) for $15. |
