Zakk:

Ugh.

RayB:

Sorry to hear that. I have Bell business DSL and it's almost twice as fast as a T1 line.

DrewKaree:

Pull a Seinfeld and call in a bogus report.

Make the service call for a day you KNOW you won't be home, and at a time you're guaranteed not to be there.

Call back an hour after the latest time they were supposed to be there.

Ask them why they haven't sent anyone yet.

Tell them you'll have to reschedule now because you have business to take care of.

Reschedule for a day and time you KNOW you won't be home.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

OFTEN!

I can't say that I've ever been that pissed at the cable provider we used to have.  We had so many node problems when we first signed up that the tech for our area gave me his personal cell phone number and several doodads that we were supposed to be charged for, for free....a real stand-up guy, so I always offered him a beer when he stopped by, a little chit-chat, a little boss-bashing to give him a chance to vent...ALWAYS a nice guy to deal with.

But I DO know how to extract my pound of flesh

I had a strange problem too when I was trying to get cheap internet.  I was with Bell DSL (which I loved, theres nothing wrong) and it was about to go up to $49.95 because my first so many moths were up.  I heard of this company called 3web and knew that they were basically resellers of Bell.  After a bit of contact, There was this thing where you sign up for their long distance and you get a $5 discount every month, even if you dont use the long distance, whihc I dont.  So im waiting for them to send me a modem and I waited forever!  I call them at least 10 times and they kept saying different excuses.  Eventually, after talking with the owner, they figure out theres no service in my area!  I just wasted 3 months with no internet thanks to these ---uvulas---!  I dont even wanna type the excuses they gave me...but it was bad stuff.

Zakk:

Naw Drew, I can't take it out on the repair guy...not his fault.

Turns out the new modem did the trick.  Absolutely ridiculous that I had to put up with all that when all I needed was a new modem.  Goes to show how far they'll go to avaoid getting a tech guy out to your house (boy were they mad when I called them and told them what I had done!).  The frontline tech girl was fine with it, but the 'business office' wanted to charge me a month's service on the other modem (oh I don't think so).

What a load of crap.

Feels good to be back online though!! :)
