RetroJames:

I remember the pain when a station in Chicago went off the air.

Brax:

Isn't every american rock radio station called z-rock? There's like 100 of 'em.

kinu64:

Yeah, WDRE was also a station down here.  The funny thing is, WDRE 103.9 was also shut down by the same company that shut down Y100 100.3.  Both were very sad days.  A fitting end to both stations, they both went off the air with Pearl Jam - Alive.  Former Y100 DJs are now broadcasting on the internet over on live365.com so at least we have a way to get our modern rock fix.  More information has been posted over at y100rocks.com.

That was a great station.  Do you remember when they started? For a week they were playing the same song over and over, with no commercials.  They just kept playing that one song.  After a few days they added "106.7 The ROCK" between the repeats.

If you can remember let me know what the name of that song was.

There have been a couple of other heavy metalish stations in Chicago, none of them lasting more than 2 years.  I'm waiting for 94.7 The Zone to be canceled.

ok y100 is the rotating station if no one has noticed ... in the past 10 years it has been rock , country , rap , hiphop , blues , easy listening , and back to rock agin .. and it will do it all over agin in the next 10 years .. i think it's the bastard child of Raido One ( the guys that own mmr , 100 and another station i forget the name of ) ....
94.5 and 95.7 ( i think i did the .'s correct ) are what i listen to when i can acctully pick them up properly .. seems the least powerfull broadcasters are the ones that have some of the better programing .. ironicly i'm stuck with ysp as i'm inside a computer data center atm and it's the only thing i can pick up
