Hi All First post here :). I'm in the process of designing a cabinet and I'm currently working on the button layout for the CP. At first, I started with straight (i.e like HotRod, having owned one) with 7 buttons, then I changed to 4 and now I've gone for the curved look (i.e to line up with my fingers). Now I'm thinking of going back to staright. Arrgghhhh!, I can't decide. What I'm sure about (I think) is that I'm going to use 4 buttons (I play only the old style games) so would like to hear your comment on this. Thanks Graham |

I think the curved buttons look awkward.... But my answer (and probably everyone's) will be to do what you have room for and is most comfortable for you. STRAIGHT gets my vote. |

I haven't decided on the width yet. However, it will fit within the width of the cabinet (I hope). I should mention that I'm planning on using a 2 player setup (Joysticks and buttons only). Somebody mentioned (on another forum) that a curved look is more comfitable for long use. I won't be playing any fighter type games (if that makes a difference), only the old style. I'm hoping that 4 buttons will cover most of these. :) |

Thanks for the replies guys :). Have any of you guys gone from straight to curved and then regreted it? Thinking about the number of buttons, I may go with 3 per player now. Would this cater for most of the old games? Are there many that use 4+ that are not fighters? :) EDIT: Does anybody know of any files that I can use in Mame32 that show the number of buttons used per game? I have seen one for players. |
