Artwork Resources?
« on: February 08, 2005, 10:11:30 pm »
Just wondering if it would be feasible to contact places that sell arcade games to get scans/photos?

Its easier to just photoshop all the stuff togher yourself..you know then you can combine all the artworks from all your favorite games and all !

General Official Artwork Galleries  :)

http://www.kawaiidream.net
+ consistently very high quality images; extensive range of rare artwork
- navigation is tricky because the site isn't english; sometimes slow

http://www.streetfighterx.org
+ big gallery with lots of street fighter artworks sorted by character
- some of the sets contain mismatched pieces; not very complete

http://neo.cgn.ru/gallery.php
+ contains some of the most obscure recent SNK artwork in high quality images
- foreign language; some dead links

http://atpictures.com/capcom/
+ large variety of high-quality Capcom artwork, some very old and rare stuff
- lots of popups and very annoying layout
(contributed by jojo)

http://www.guiltygearx.com/ [press the 9th white box (should have gallery in the URL if you look ahead of time at your status bar)
+ Not the very cartoony pictures usually found of GGXX
- Not many
(contributed by Sleipnir)

http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/index.html
+ gallery of Samwise Didier and Metzen, the 2 lead artists of Blizzard games (Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo)
- Blizzard hasn't made any fighting games
(contributed by Mr.Twelve)

http://godflesh.com/sf/
+ good collection of the core Street Fighter artworks from every SF game
- some incomplete series and crossover game series only contain SF chars

http://www12.big.or.jp/~akiman/
+ official homepage of Capcom's Akiman; random scattered artwork everywhere
- total lack of organization and foreign language site makes it hard to navigate

http://streetfighter.free.fr/
+ fairly thorough old-school galleries of some SF characters
- foreign language; only about a dozen characters in total featured

http://www.fightersgeneration.com
+ the biggest artwork site online right now; definately the first place you should look
- members-only, slow, disorganized, and very inconsistent quality (some pics look great, others are small and badly scanned)

Character-Specific Galleries

http://www.cammyfan.com
+ lots of high quality Cammy artwork and some misc artwork from other fighitng games
- lots of incomplete series due to certain specific characters being left out; won't shut up about his fanboy status

http://sonichurricane.com
+ pretty comprehensive collection of good-quality Guile illustrations from different games plus some full sets
- i'm pimpin' my own ghetto gallery just to bump this thread

http://www.kikouken.com
+ the most comprehensive Chun Li gallery on the net
- zero character variety

Street Fighter Comic Series Galleries

http://www.streetfightercomics.com
+ covery gallery of every variant plus lots of sneak peek interior pages
- not updated regularly and a little behind with previews

http://digitalsin.bebopboard.net
+ cover gallery of lots of variants, plus lots of info and nice design
- fell behind with updates a little; down for relaunch in June

http://lowfierce.com/sfcmedia
+ best quality/resolution cover artwork for upcoming issues plus early promo artwork
- very basic design lacking detailed info

Sprite Rips, Backgrounds, and Screencaps

http://www.uoguelph.ca/~jnowak/images/
+ Third Strike sprites.
- Under development.

http://www.finestko.com
+ look under Features to find lots of high-res screencaps of empty CvS2 backgrounds
- no character artwork of any sort on the site yet

http://www.burningdojo.com
+ media section contains screenpacks of high quality still rips from SF Animes
- aside from the crazy recolored main page Chun Li pic, no other artwork on the site
(contributed by Mickey D')

http://web.archive.org/web/20021208...s.com/main.html
+ RPG sprite rips from almost 50 classic games
- the site will never be updated and only exists because of web.archive.org
(contributed by Mickey D')

cool neogeo/snk stuff galore!  This stuff should maybe be added to the collective at AAL?
It doesn't matter if you win or lose....it's how you play the videogame.

If it ain't vectored, I don't really want it... unless it's old school classic stuff. I'd rather someone just dl it and hold on to it in case that site ever goes away. In the meantime, I can just post a link at the AAL. I'm not a big fan of japanese language stuff / instruction cards / overwhelming cpos (manuals) so I'd rather not spend all of my bandwidth on that at this point. A lot of that stuff isn't what I'd consider good enough quality to post at the AAL. Even some of the stuff that's already been uploaded at the AAL is of questionable quality, and given time I will probably delete some of it.
