I have no idea mate I think it's back in the courts again. But I will say this- I recently had the "pleasure" of spending 1/2 a day in court and got to see quite a few cases unfold.
Everyone has some sad story of why they did, what they did. Their lawyers get up and speak of what angels they are and how cruel life has been to them. With the exception of one case which was a speeding fine, everyone else was let off on a good behavior bond. Even a stalker already on bail and a junkie who had done his second break & enter while also on a good behavior bond.
My wife who was with me was just as dumbfounded, she asked me after about 3 hours what you actually had to do to get punished for your actions these days.

And you didn't know the answer? I can't believe you!
In ADDITION to committing the crime, you have to commit the ultimate infraction. You have to hurt someone's feelings - you know, say something that is politcally incorrect that offends the sensibilities of another human being - in relation to the crime committed.
Only then is there consideration for the accused (or the "victim", as the PROPER term is....you know, the person against whom the crime was committed) and how this crime affected THEM, rather than what life did to cause the criminal...sorry..."yer honah, my robber client is actually the victim" to commit such a flagrant violation against another member of the populace, thereby bringing to light just how put upon the law-breaker is.
On the plus side, we tend to put a lot less of these folks to death, so we ARE making progress.
