Hit & Run in a parking lot.

Still sucks that anyone over 25 can get that 1029 significantly reduced, and they don't even have to mature or become a better driver, all they have to do is age.

It's not considered aging by insurance agencies. It's called "moving into a different statistical category".
How about the older you get the more your insurance goes down, and some of the worst drivers I've seen are the little old ladies who can barely see over the dashboard and have a knack for being able to best a friggen NASCAR driver at blocking you from going around due to their "OHMYGOD OHMYGOD WHADOIDONOW!" behavior at how this newfangled horseless carriage moves WAAAAAY too fast for them....I've seen 20 year old's I'd be more comfortable driving with than some 60 year olds - yet the 60 year old is prolly gonna pay TONS less than you!
Did you, at the very least, call the cops? I've never heard you answer that directly.
Ravant:
I did call the police. Was my first reaction in the incident. Figured if the car was still in the parking lot, (*Bang*... oops? Better move away to a different spot so they don't think I did it.), that they'd find the car, and the owner of the vehicle, who would technically be liable according to NY State law. I figured, find a vehicle, you've got the culprit. Unfortunately, the jerk's car was nowhere to be found, and it was deemed by the police a hit & run at that point.

Well...no. It's almost like a bell curve.
When you first get your license, you're a liability. You're inexperienced, and the chances are good that you'll get into an accident, either due to doing something stupid (which I think most youth do) or from something that you didn't do that you should have done.
As you get older, not only do you get more experience driving, but you're less likely to take chances when you do. After a while, you figure out that you're *not* immortal. You have responsibilities (kids!) and hence your rates go down. For most insurance companies, that magic age is 25.
When you get *much* older, your reaction time is crap, your vision not as good as it used to be, your hearing isn't as sharp either. I *think* your rates start to go back up after a certain point, but since I won't be in that category for another 29 years, I haven't checked into it.

Their catch is that they won't insure anyone who has the slightest issue.

My deductable was almost as much as the damage itself.) I've even got all the applicable discounts... anti-theft devices galore, saftey devices galore, and I take a defensive driving course every June.

If the damage was so little, I would have paid the damage on the other car myself.
My wife in her 2005 Xtrail hit my car in the driveway. Cause $1600 damage to her car and $200 on mine. Paying for the damage out of packet because our insurance would go up if we claimed the accident.
Short term pain for long term gain.
