if you have a reader/writer, I think you can take the files from downloadable roms, and re-write it to a rom chip.  Someone here did that recently I believe.

Can't help you on where to download the rom file though, but have a look around the net ;)
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

I think it's pretty obvious that he's not looking for Illegal roms...

Uh, I highly doubt that they're going to have the type of rom writer that you're going to need!  :-\
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Read closer.  He's asking about finding ROMs for a board he actually owns.  As in the chips on the board.

About the worst thing he's done is post in the wrong forum.

This is great! A moderator-sanctioned loophole. He didn't even need to specify which PCBs and which ROMs are bad. Yahoo! My turn:

I am looking for ROMs to fix bad PCBs. Please send me URLs.

NO MORE!!

Refer to them as "ROM chips" or "EPROMS" and dummies like me won't get confused.

Tommy - best place for this kind of help is rec.games.video.arcade.collecting -- people there are happy to help someone repair a board. Some folks will burn the specific ROM you need for free or for a nominal fee + cost of the chip. Some may email you the specific ROM file you need, but you'll have to be capable of burning it of course.

Use the UK version of Google Groups to get to rec.games.video.arcade.collecting, it's still the old style versus the new style they've implemented elsewhere.

If you're repairing a vector based PCB, hit up the incredibly smart and helpful folks at the Vectorlist --  You can sign up here: http://www.vectorlist.org/.

Well I got it after reading it a couple times, but I still agree with RayB in that if you had said ROM chips or EPROMS it would have been clearer.

I just asked him to burn 4 x EPROMS to fix a couple of CPS1 boards the other day, the guy's name is Stephan Suys and he has very helpful, very knowledgeable and very quick to respond.

The EPROMS haven't actually arrived yet (what with me being on the far side of the world and all) but from what I've seen so far he seems like a damn good guy.

Will let you know when they get here.

EPROMS arrived today, one day ahead of schedule.

Two thumbs up for hobbyroms.com
