Tekken 5 pushbuttons
« on: February 01, 2005, 10:51:36 pm »
I'm probably late in the game but, i havent been to an arcade in a while (as all the REAL games are gone, and its all interactive stuff now) but i got to see the tekken 5 cabinet for the 1st time, it was awesome. The thing i really loved were the pushbuttons on that thing. I'm having trouble finding a decent pic of the cab, but does anyone know if those pushbuttons can be purchased anywhere?

(i'll keep looking for an example pic to show you guys)

I Love Tekken 5 and think the cabinet is really cool althought not very sturdy.

The buttons are convex and are made by Sanwa which I can't find anywhere but you can order them from Happs or someone on eBay who sells Happs buttons, they're called competition pushbuttons.

They're pretty nice. What do you think of the joystick?

First I've seen of it.  Odd that they have ball-tops on a fighter.  I guess I'm accustomed to bat styles for fighters.

Yeah it's peculiar after hearing about the quality of a Sanwa stick
I might put using one off for a while til i can make a replicate of a Tekken 5 control panel for an arcade stick and use an American one

They are certainly jumpy and when we play they always come knocked loose or something

A friend of mine said their local arcade got one and it has connection in the front for PS2 controllers.  :o  What's with that?  Heresy!

But if they are not very springy, that may turn me away. But i may get one to test it out.

They are sanwa buttons not Happ Competitions.

It seems odd that they would replace a complete joystick rather than just put a new microswitch on.  If a microswitch is wearing out it probably just means that they are getting allot of use, but who am I to say I'm not there.  I have to admit I don't use the regular microswitch ones at home.  I like the P360 optical ones but they stoped making those since Happ bought P360.

Anyway I emailed Namco and they are Sanwa parts and I even got the part #s but I think they refer to Betson (do they sell to the public?)

The part numbers they gave you are probably sanwa part numbers.

Those Teken5 buttons are the best I've ever used. I have the exact same Japan buttons on my Old school Playstation Fighter stick. They are very responsive and make no noise at all.

check out the bonus (ok $50 extra) collector's edition stick coming with the Tekken 5 CE.

Coming with a real Sanwa I might not even need to build my own T5 stick with Sanwa stuff.. but am going to anyway :P

But yah those buttons are freakin awesome, so light and quick.. I gotta use them
