As I understand it, these are intentionally left out of MAME.  They are too close in functionality to the current models, and adding them to MAME could affect profits of the game company and operators.

Pay money for the PC version instead, and ITs might actually not go out of business, and continue making versions.

No wonder with attitudes like those above the emulation scene is being referred to as nothing but a bunch of warez traders.  ::)

those games are 5+ years old, i dont even see them in arcades anymore so i dont know how theyre still affecting profits.

edit:  btw, you can just "obtain" the PC versions. i dunno how good they are and how trackballs work with that though, never tried it

They were never really IN the arcades.
They are still in BARS all over where I am.
The place I go for dinner alot has a 2k in it, that was never replaced with a newer version.

I always look at it this way, it does not matter if the game is a day old or 100 years old, if the Mamedev feels supporting it or not, its still really up to them.
For those that what to add drivers and compile for our own use, just don't go asking about it especially on MAME.NET and also where to finds ROMS cause I believe they will hold back on supporting it a little longer than it should. I'm sure alot of OLDIES like ourselves already knew this.
I'm sure the driver is out there and just need to find it and of course the ROMS too.

Now, why not spill the beans and let us know where  :o

As has been said, not arcades, bars.

The problem is that once you have one working driver for GT '97, that will work all the way up to GT '04.

Nope, they changed after 2k and classic.

Golden tee 96 - classic. (Standard Res, same board can be used to upgrade between versions.)

Golden Tee Fore and up have a new motherboard, vga style output (I think you can turn them down to 15k.) and a harddrive. Updates for these games come as a security chip/cdrom combo, with a key number.

So the last version that the driver would run would be Classic, which was only 4 years old.

(I've got a 96 on location at a pizza place and it still pulls in around 200.00 a month.)

Later,

Yeah, me too.  I have asked all over for the driver.  IT is one of the still thriving arcade companies. They make BIG money on GT. If any company can come after the mame community, they can.

GT 3D to 99 look like the same board to me.  I have one 98 sitting in my garage I have to put together, but I'm too lazy to get the CP built.  I've converted about 5 machines to GT and sold them.  I always made money on them.

Looks like you might get your wish soon..

Although it's been possible to get the roms and add them to the itech32 driver for a VERY VERY VERY long time... :)
