Which one's black/white?

Yea, with AC white is neutral green or bare is ground and other colors are live.  Usually black is constant and red is switched when it comes to a wall outlet.

Thanks for the help guys, if I had realy though about the fact that the red is paired with the white and that the red is usually switched I probably would have been more sure of myself but it's probably a good thing I asked anyways.  It sure makes me feel safer anyways!

I still can't get my head round that...red=hot=live - that's how it should be!

What about American cars?  Don't tell me black is live in them too??

No, black is negative for DC wiring...Its the AC thats all screwed up.
