Multi-Williams Q about 8-Ways.

Witchboard:

Is there any other reason to have two 8-way joysticks on the Multi-Williams besides to play Robotron?  It seems most of the games meant to be supported by the Multi-Williams are either 4-Way or 2-Way.

paigeoliver:

Bubbles requires an 8-way stick.
Robotron requires dual 8-ways
Splat requires dual 8-ways
Joust require dual 2-ways (left-right)
Stargate and Defender require a single 2-way up-down.

NONE of them are 4-way.

2-way games play perfectly with an 8-way.

Witchboard:

Fair enough.  The thing is, I was working on more than one control panel and already have two 8-ways on a figher setup.  I was wondering if I could switch out the Multi-Williams for 4-ways to play Wizard of Wor, Pacman, Donkey Kong, BurgerTime, Karate Champ and etc. since I've heard that 4-way games play poor on 8-way sticks.  I know that wouldn't make it a Multi-Williams.  I'm just trying to expand the amount of games without duplicating controls.

If you've HEARD that 4-way games play badly with an 8-way stick, wait until you TRY to play 8-way games with a 4-way stick.

I'll take the "4-way game/8-way stick" setup anyday, over the reverse.
At least 4-way games are PLAYABLE with an 8-way stick.

Witchboard:

Why would I play an 8-way game with a 4-way stick?  I would use the already two 8-way sticks on my other panel.  I just think it's a waste and redundant to have two panels both with two 8-way sticks, unless one pair is rotary or top fire.
