How can I add a volume control knob to my cabinet? (for my car amplifier)

I've done a search and all I could find are ways to hack a volume control for PC speakers...

What I'm trying to do is hookup a volume control knob to control the volume coming out of my car amplifier (which is in my cabinet of course).  Right now here is my setup:

JBL 2-channel 40x2 amplifier
  - powered from computer's power supply +12v
  - mini jack --> RCA adapter coming from PC to amplifier
  - amplifier grounded to power supply gnd
  - two polk audio 6 1/4" speakers are hooked up

Now ideally I'd like the volume control knob at the top of the cabinet (where it can't be seen... perhaps next to the power button [which I haven't moved up there yet]).

Has anybody done this?  Can it be done easily?  What is involved?

Thanks for any help!

its pretty easy actually, here is a tutorial from Oscars site:

That's perfect, thanks!

Does anybody have any suggestions on where to place it?  Originally I was thinking on the top of the cabinet (where it couldn't be seen) but it seems like most people have it near their control panel...

I've e-mailed Oscar about this, but he's gone on Vacation (everybody went on Vacation the past few weeks, heh) and I'm wondering where I can buy some 1/4" round stock and shaft collars (like he mentions in his cabinet volume control how-to).

Basically all I want to do is extend the shaft from the volume control (eg. the radio shack part) because the shaft is very very small...  Home Depot and Lowe's didn't seem to carry anything...

You might want to try a hobby shop that handles RC vehicles.  They may have aluminum or maybe brass if that's not a problem.
