The Internet is the media of communication. It doesn't make it any different than having a conversation with someone face to face, over the phone, by radio, by letter, closed circuit tv, smoke signals, or telepathy.

At any rate, these last few messages are the clear answer to your question of why everyone was / is hostile towards you.

--- Quote from: saint on January 01, 2005, 04:26:08 pm ---Opinions without tact or common courtesy will inevitably leave you an outcast of whatever social group you're stating them in. Having an opinion is fine. But flatly stating your opinions without regard to how you present them and how they are received is not a virtue or something to be proud of. Understanding this is what makes the difference between someone who is interesting (regardless of whether or not you agree with their opinion) and someone who is just simply loud and boorish.

As a side note, failing to understand this will likely leave you going through life with people perpetually mad at you and/or unwilling to socialize with you. Taking it as a point of pride that "I told it like it is and their reaction is their problem" is a poor substitue for a lonely, isolated life and one I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Tact isn't a weakness. You can make your points and state your opinion without losing sight of tact and other people's feelings.

Yeah but this is the internet.. I don't need tact really
Some people assume I act the same way in real life, and maybe some people do that, but I sure as heck don't.

Why do you enjoy being such a <<<censored by saint>>> on the internet... because "its only the internet"

To most of us here, this is a nice community where we like to share thoughts, ideas, etc... not be attacked by idiots.

Is it because you have anonymity and get some kick out of it?  Were you picked on as a child? Not held by your mother? I mean seriously.... grow up.

And yes, I'm resorting to name calling, cuz frankly... you deserve it.  You clearly cannot have an intellectual conversation, so I'll resort to my 8th grade tactics that I thought I would have left behind years ago... but it seems to be the only way to get through to you.

Oh, and I just have to add this in:

Whether or not you feel it's necessary to have tact on the Internet versus real life is besides the point. This is my home, and I have asked for basically one simple rule to be followed:

"Rules?  We don't need no steeenkin rules!  Well, maybe one.  Be nice to each other.  We're serious about this one.  Disagree, debate, argue at will - but please be respectful.  Messages that are antagonistic or contain profanity will likely be deleted, and repeat offenders banned from posting. "

----

One would hope that you would realize the sense of such a rule, but whether or not you do is beside the point. There are other forums that don't require such behavior if the constraints on this one aren't to someone's liking.

Cheers!

My point is, people here come for support, not for your rude opinion.
