new Project Name / Marquee Art
« on: November 22, 2004, 11:11:11 pm »
What do you think of this for a name? The art is pretty early, but I think to do a whole lot more would make it too busy...

What about the Wayback Machine?  Wasn't that what they called the thing, too?  Mebbe that's why it sticks out to me   :P  You could maybe work in one of those "swirl back in time" thingys!

Yeah, in the cartoon it was called the Wayback Machine but I wanted to be a little different. (plus there's a website called that now, and I don't want some young punk to think I named it after THAT!)

Here's a spash of color added...

Coloring in the dog (Mr. Peabody?) would provide visual balance without cluttering the scene, in my opinion.

But Mr. Peabody IS a white dog!

Yeah, but the tie and the glasses....and just outlining the characters in black rather than green....it'd make 'em stand out, kinda 21/2D

I think the trick is to yelow the background slightly... "age" it as it were. Then Peabody would stand out more.

Ya know, that'd go with the "back in time" kinda thing....yellowed as it aged....I still like the characters outlined in black, though

Thanks for the input, guys. Yeah Peabody needs to be white but I was thinking of making the background more grey. All outlines should be black--it's just a crappy rough first draft.

For the CP overlay, I was thinking of doing hand-drawn art similar to the "squiggly" style of the machine in the background of the marquee.

Overall colors are going to be mostly black, white and grey with chrome t-molding. Buttons will be more colorful...maybe I need to work more color into the CP overlay (thinking it'll look dorky to have Neo-Geo colored buttons on a grey/white background).

Wow, can't believe it's been almost 4 months and I'm not done yet. Getting REAL close though...started putting on t-molding tonight.
